Memorial Day 2012.

For all the people getting their “Party ON!!!!” on Memorial Day but are not members of the military, friends or family of the military or veterans, you should know something. Getting shitfaced on a day you are supposed to pay your respects is just wrong. These men and women may very well be fighting or have fought for your right to party, but abusing it is just foolish. There are soldiers that come back to Stateside not being able to listen to fireworks anymore. There are mothers that can’t see their husbands right now. There are broken families that need attention. So stop this bullshit. Please. It’s just degrading. All I did all day was sell beer, wine, and other variations of alcohol. Not one flag. Not one “Get Well” or “We miss you” card. Alcohol. I wasn’t going to post this or say anything. I didn’t want to piss anyone off, but ya know, I’m pissed off. At the 99 Days of Summer concert at The Landing, Darryl Worley took the time to bring Military Members on to the stage, sing for them and respect them. I was torn up, I started crying, trying hard not to show it for them. As soon as they left the stage, I went around back and shook each of their hands. I thanked them for everything they are. My Step-Father went to Iraq and thankfully, THANKFULLY, came back to his little girls and wife. So I’m not being self righteous. This is personal. As it should be for everyone living safely in this country because of these Brave People’s sacrifices.
